Hi, I'm Alex.
I'm better known as RasterCrow on the web.
About me
I am a Front-end developer but I like to try out new stuff and stay up to date on the latest tech trends.
Before focusing on FE I had the oppurtinity to study and work in other fields such as Mobile Development and training/deploying Neural Networks.
I code for a living, but computers are not my entire life; I like to travel, bike and watch LOTS of movies.
Feel free to explore this website, read some posts my blog and you can also check my CV or LinkedIn profile for a more in depth explanation of my past experiences.
A list of the various Frameworks / Libraries / Platforms I used for personal projects or work.
Games
I don't really have much work experience, but I'm an hardcore gamer and huge follower of the latest tech.
Mobile
I have made a couple of simple apps in the past, most of them from University projects (available on my Github), but also for personal use.
I haven't had the chance to develop for iOS devices.
Web
At first I didn't really like Web Development, I'm more of a back-end guy, but I appreciate it more now.
AI Research
I had the opportunity to work in this field during my University Internship; I worked on the design, traning, inference and deployment of a Neural Network used for real-time object detection on a Raspberry Pi + Intel Neural Compute Stick. It was fun.
This section is more of a mix of tools I used in the past.
Productivity Tools
Some of the work-related tools I used.
Hardware
I'm a huge hardware guy. I like to build, experiment and work with computer hardware, from standard PCs, smartphones but also IOT projects on Raspberry Pi / home servers.
Cloud
I used different services from different providers, like VMs on Google Cloud or Functions on AWS.
Graphic and Video Processing
I used to edit videos for my Youtube Channel.
Projects
Some of the projects I worked on in my free time. You can find more of them on myGithubor on my Blog.
Wishlister is a PWA that lets you create a wishlist and share it with your friends or family. You can install it on your device and use special features, like sharing a link on it to add the item to a wishlist.
Front-end is made with React, while all the back-end is on Firebase (Hosting, DB, Authentication, Functions).
GeoLocator is a clone of Geoguessr, a multiplayer game where players have to guess the correct location in the world using Google Street View. You can fork it and host it yourself or use a pre-hosted version with a public Google API provided by you. You can learn more about this project on the Github Wiki or on my blog post.
Easy Sushi is a web app I made to handle your orders when going to an all you can eat restaurant ( japanese ones usually ).
This way each one can focus on their own order and at the end Easy Sushi will show you the final table order that you need to write. Similar to other web apps I made, it's made with Next.js and Firebase. It also supports accounts and real-time lobbies.
You can check the source code on the Github page.
AwesomeAnime for anilist is a smartphone app I'm currently working on.
It'll let you interface with anilist.co to search for Anime and handle your watched lists, favourites etc...
It's being developed in React Native using anilist's GraphQL API.
Skills I developed for Amazon Alexa devices. Some are also available on the Google Assistant. You can find them all on Github.
WhatsApp Web - Background Changer and Dario Moccia - Episode Tracker are two extensions that I made for Chromium based browsers.
The former lets you change the chats' background on the web version of WhatsApp while the latter, as the name implies, is an episode tracker for a popular italian youtuber. They are also both available and free to use on my Github.
Blog
This is an example of what I write on my blog.
Death Stranding's Photo Mode
2020-09-15
I recently purchased `Death Stranding` on the Steam store, the latest work from `Hideo Kojima`. For those unfamiliar with the game, Death Stranding is a very peculiar videogame with the journey of the player at its heart.
It was therefore very important to design the map in such a way to push the player to explore and try new things while still being interactable and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
